  • If the drive letter of your external hard drive and the disk partition are the same, the Disk Management window will not show the drive with the specified drive letter. Instead, it will show up the drive as New Volume without any drive letter.
  • Right-click on the drive titled ‘New volume,’ click on Choose Drive letter and paths, assign a new drive, and click OK to confirm.
