Sandisk G Technology Armoratd- Setup Guide

For Windows

  • Switch on your computer if it is turned off.
  • Connect your SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE ArmorATD external hard drive to the Windows 10 computer using a USB cable.
  • Now, verify and reformat the drive to use it on your computer.
  • Follow the instructions below for the same.
  • Open the Disk Management app.
  • Verify the connected drive.
  • After doing that, erase it using the CMD app.
  • Refer to the screenshot below for the same.
  • Once the drive is erased, you can see the red down arrow beside the drive name in the Disk Management window.
  • Right-click on the disk area and choose the Initialize Disk option.
  • Now, the dialog box titled “Initialize Disk” will open.
  • Choose your disk name under the “Select disks” section.
  • Go to the “Use the following…” section.
  • Choose the GPT (GUID Partition Table) option by clicking the checkbox beside it.
  • Click OK to continue the reformat process.
  • Choose the GP Table
  • Now, move the cursor over the Unallocated drive and right-click on it.
  • Select the New Simple Volume option.
  • Now, the New Simple Volume Wizard will open.
  • Choose the “Format this volume…” option in the opened window.
  • Type the G-Drive command in the Volume Label field and click Next.
  • Reformat the drive by following the prompts displayed on the screen.

For Mac

If you’re using a Mac, connect your drive to it using the USB cable. Open Disk Utility on your computer. Check if the drive is recognized. If yes, it is ready to use. The SanDisk Professional G-DRIVE ArmorATD external hard drive comes formatted with HFS+.

So, you can use the drive straight out of the box on Mac. However, if you wish to format the drive with exFAT, follow the instructions below.

  • Open the Disk Utility app if it is closed.
  • Locate the connected ArmorATD drive under the External section and click on it.
  • Connect On Your External Drive
  • Now, your drive details will be displayed on your right-hand side of the screen.
  • Click on the Erase button at the top of the screen.
  • Select Erase
  • Now, a pop-up dialog box titled “Erase…” will open.
  • Type the format name in the Name field.
  • Choose the exFAT option from the Format drop-down menu.
  • Ensure that the GUID Partition Map option is selected as the Scheme type.
  • Finally, click the Erase button to reformat the drive.
