SET PASSWORD USING BITLOCKER:
Make sure to connect the external hard drive to your computer.
Go to File Explorer on your Windows 10 PC and right-click on the external hard drive.
Select the Turn on BitLocker option from the drop-down list.

Here, select the “Use a password to unlock the drive” checkbox.
Next, enter your password and re-enter it into the respective field.
Click the Next button.
Windows will automatically generate a recovery key that helps you unlock your secured hard drive if you ever forget the password.
Now, select how you want to back up your recovery key.
For instance, if you have selected the “Save to a file” option, choose a location to save the recovery key and click the Save button.
Next, click the Yes button.
You will see the “Your recovery key has been saved” message at the top of the screen.

Here, choose the way you want to encrypt your hard drive and click the Next button.
Select the encryption mode you want to use from the list and click on the Next button.
To encrypt your external hard drive, click the Start encrypting button.
Wait for some time to complete the encryption process.

Next, eject your hard drive from the computer.
Reconnect the external hard drive to your device to access it.
The BitLocker window will appear on the screen.
