Combining Two Hard Drives Into One On Windows 7

Before merging two drives on your computer, you need to back up the respective drive that you are going to merge with the other (as mentioned before). By doing so, you can merge hard drive partitions without losing any data. To do this task, you have to perform the below instructions carefully.

  • Click the Windows icon on the main screen of your Windows 7 computer.
  • Access the Control Panel window using the search box.
  • When the window opens, choose the System and Security option.
  • Here, search for the Backup and Restore option and select it from the list.
  • Click on the Create a system image option from the left menu panel of your window.
  • Now, the Create a system image pop-up window will be displayed.
  • Choose the respective drive that you are going to merge under the “On a hard disk” option.
  • Here, select the appropriate drive from the list that you want to back up on your computer.
  • Next, click the Start backup button.
  • After completing the backup process, you can start join 2 hard drives into one on your Windows 7 computer.
  • Now, go to your computer’s main screen and right-click on the My Computer option.
  • Pick the Manage option.

  • Now, you need to choose the Extend Volume option from the drop-down menu.
  • Now, you will find that the Extend Volume Wizard window pops up. Here, under the Selected category, you’ll see that the disk is automatically selected.
  • It also shows the amount of space in the unallocated disk.
  • Now, in the “Maximum available space in MB” field, it will be set to 9999 MB. You can use this to extend the other volume you are going to merge.
  • Click Next.
  • Now, click on the Finish button.
  • You will now see that the two drives are merged on your computer.
