- If your device starts working, try to take a backup and then format your drive.
- On the Windows computer, right-click the Start icon and then click Disk Management from the list.
- In the Disk Management window, you need to right-click on the Seagate drive and then click Format or Delete Volume.
- Once the format is complete, you have to allocate memory for your drive.
- Right-click on the drive icon and then click New Simple Volume.
- In the New Simple Volume Wizard, click Next.
- In the Specify Volume Size window, type the volume below the maximum disk space in MB in the Simple volume size in the MB text field and then click Next.

- In the Format Partition window, click the radio button for Format the volume with the following settings and then select NTFS from the File System drop-down box.
