I have two other WD (500GB) drives for my Imac that I use for external storage, but I kept having problems running my Time Machine backups.(not enough space on External to backup). I ordered my 2TB WD from Amazon and hoped for the best. Well I received it and opened the box and plugged it in. I went to my System Preferences and clicked on Time Machine chose my new HD and set it for my backup. That was it, of course it is going to take a bit of time for the initial backup, but that was it. No problems and it runs like a champ. I have already reccomended it to my niece for her mac.

This is a great hard drive for time machine backups on my 1TB-equipped 27" core i7 iMac. Please note that unless you use WD's backup software, the capacity gauge will not function. But who needs extra LED lights anyways?! :)

Amazon sent me a defective Western Digital hard disk! The power jack and the USB 2.0 jack are not lined up with the plastic casting, which makes it impossible to use. Amazon will only reimburse me $6.00 back for the shipping, even though shipping my hard disk back to Kentucky with insurance will cost much more than that. (The last thing I want is a $160 piece of equipment to get lost in the mail, at which point Amazon will neither replace it or refund my money--what a horrible customer service policy!) I really needed my hard disk this week so I could back up my hard drive before shipping my computer back home, but now I'll have to wait several weeks for it to come in. I'm very dissatisfied.
