| Customer Reviews: great product except for the usb cable March 31, 2010 Scott Hoang (Los Angeles, CA) i love buffalo products. never had one crash on me and i have 4 hard drives now. i bought this one because i needed another portable hard drive without having to use an external power source. this is a great product. looks sleek too. only complaint i have is that usb cable. you have to unplug it from the drive to store it for travel. my other portable buffalo drive had the cable you could wrap around it and secure it in a slot, but it's discontinued. this is why i gave it a 4 out of 5 stars.
Great little hard drive. Stylish too. January 15, 2010 E. Yeganegi Just bought it today. Design is nice and portable, USB only is no problem at all on my Mac.
Just be sure to format the hard drive as there are some files already on there that you probably don't need.
Excelent Product, Love My Buffalo HD!! November 27, 2009 J. Ross I bought my hard drive roughly six months ago and it has consistently worked perfectly. I've traveled around the world with it, dropped it countless times, and I subject it to rigorously misuse. Yet amazingly it remains reliable. I have not experienced any of the problems the previous reviewer expressed and assume his unit was a rare exception of an otherwise incredibly high quality product. The drive is also made in Japan, which may (or may not, to be fair) contribute to its flawless performance compared to its Chinese counterparts. The drive is compact, durable, and extremely reliable. I am extremely satisfied with mine and I just purchased a second for my other laptop!
Dead on Arrival October 30, 2009 Gerald Peters (USA) 0 out of 6 found this review helpful
Received the item today. Looks good, plugged it in, doesn't show up on the desktop. Plugged it into another computer. I hear a constant clicking in the unit , like it's trying to access something, but can't. Same sound as if your computer is trying to load a CD/DVD, but is not able to. So this thing is dead on arrival. I must have purchased at least 30 external hard drives in my life, and they all worked. I purchased mostly the LaCie models, never had any problems. This on is dead on arrival. Looks stylish, but not worth a cent. This only happens to me once, I will return it and will never buy anything from this company again.
