A portable MP3s player at work May 22, 2005 Rich (Seattle, WA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
This device works fine since it is simple to use. It needs no software and is a plug and play device for Window XP. You can plug it in when the computer start up or plug it in later at any time. Sometime this hard drive isn't register by Window, so you have to re-plug it in a couple of times to register.
I use this mainly for holding my MP3s collection and play it on any computers at work or at home. Forget about an IPod for work with its smallish screen. Run Winamp or iTune on the computer via this device. At home I transfer via firewire from my laptop with a power cord. At work I plug it into a USB2 without a power cord and it works fine. Normal USB is too slow for music play where it freezes on occasions. It can be used as a large portable memory card, since it is fairly small and slim for a hard drive. It is roughly the size of a normal size hand calculator.
Again, this device works fine; it is fast enough for MP3s playing. Also for running and installing programs, and makes a great portable hard drive.
Does the job, but boot issues March 14, 2005 Big Kahuna 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
Easy to install and the automatic backup software is great. But there is some issues with the boot sequence when used on my new Dell 4700. When I boot up it tries to access the Iomega drive first instead of the internal drive. In bios the USB device is set to no boot and the internal drive is the only device listed in order. Yes, I know how to setup the bios. Iomega points the finger at Dell, and vice versa. It seems like a BIOS issue but who knows.
